AirMap

AirMap is a California-based technology company developing a low-altitude airspace administration platform for Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM). The technology provides drones with up-to-date airspace information so drone operators can plan and adapt flight plans to local events, restrictions, and even changes in weather around them. The company co-operates with local authorities to manage and regulate safe zones and pathways for drone operation. As of June 2019, AirMap has its services deployed in countries like Japan, Germany, United States, and Switzerland.

AirMap was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in Santa Monica, California. On December 7, 2021, AirMap was acquired by Droneup, LLC, and the terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

AirMap offers an airspace management platform built to handle the process of airspace rule definition and flight approvals for air navigation service providers, intended to reduce the process of approval from days to minutes, through a single software platform capable of integrating into existing ATC systems. The system is capable of automating approvals to help ATC staff focus on other problems; can automatically push new rules to operators with the procedures necessary to fly compliant; and through near-real-time compliance and automated management can improve safety, including improving the situational awareness of a specific airspace.

AirMap's airspace management platform is marketed toward use cases for commercial enterprises, where they can use drones for the protection of assets and use the software for commercial drone flight planning, including planning, requesting flight approvals, and receiving the approval to ensure a drone's flight path remains clear. These measures can reduce in-air conflicts with live traffic alerts and ensure drone safety. It is also marketed toward military forces, where AirMap's tools can help them manage UAS traffic over sensitive locations. AirMap also offers ISR tools for soldiers to give them visual intelligence and real-time insights to help them make informed and independent real-time decisions.

Built for airports, AirBoss is a platform intended to create more efficiencies in airport operation, including reducing the cost and manpower for conducting runway, building, and plane inspections, by creating automated inspections. This is achieved through real-time imaging in 2D and 3D, allowing users to identify surface issues with runways, buildings, and planes.

AirMap's UAS traffic management platform is a software suite developed for the safe operation of drone fleets and management of UAS pilots. This software is intended to help users protect property, approve flight requests, and inspect assets remotely. Further, the software can be augmented and integrated with existing software solutions through a range of APIs offered by AirMap.
