5AM Ventures is a venture capital firm investing in primarily in life science companies and was founded in 2002 by Andrew Schwab and John Diekman. The companies in the firm's portfolio are in the industries of healthcare, biopharmacuticals, life sciences, medical technology, and research instruments. The companies in the portfolio have more than 35 clinical trials in process (as of 2019) in order to create breakthroughs using the technology built by its start-up companies.

The firm has raised eight funds since 2002, totaling more than one billion dollars. Investors have included institutional investors, funds-of-funds, family offices, foundations, and endowments.
