Isabelle Geffroy, referred to by the pseudonym ZAZ, is a singer from Tours, France, who combines the styles nu jazz, soul, and acoustic in her music. In 2001, Zaz began her singing career in the blues band Fifty Fingers. She also sang in musical groups in Angoulême, particularly in a jazz quintet.
Zaz joined Izar-Adatz (Shooting Star), a variety band of sixteen people with whom she toured for two years, in the Midi-Pyrenees and the Basque Country. As a chorister, she worked in the studio in Toulouse and performed with singers like Maeso, Art Mengo, Vladimir Max, Jean-Pierre Mader, and Serge Guerao.
In 2010, Zaz made her full-length solo debut with a Play On-issued self-titled album. The album featured some songs written and produced by Raphaël and spawned the Top 40 single "Je Veux." It also went double diamond in France. In 2012, Zaz toured throughout Europe, Japan, and Canada. A year later, she released her second album, Recto Verso.
