Yubico is a developer of authentication and encryption technology designed to make secure online identities truly ubiquitous. The company's technology delivers strong hardware protection, with a simple touch, across any number of IT systems and online services. Their portable hardware security module protects sensitive data inside standard servers, enabling internet users to have one single and secure key for securing access from any device to any number of services. Yubico is a contributor to the FIDO Universal 2nd Factor open authentication standard. Their core security product is the YubiKey.

Yubico was founded in Sweden in 2007. In 2011, they decided to move to Palo Alto, California to help the companies success. Being in Silicon Valley allows Yubico to collaborate with companies to create native support for their security keys in major online platforms and browsers.

Supporting multiple authentication and encryption protocols on all devices and platforms, YubiKeys protect access to user accounts for enterprises with a simple touch, and with no driver or client software needed.

The YubiKey implements the HMAC-based One-time Password Algorithm (HOTP) and the Time-based One-time Password Algorithm (TOTP), and identifies itself as a keyboard that delivers the one-time password over the USB HID protocol. The YubiKey NEO and YubiKey 4 include protocols such as OpenPGP card using 2048-bit RSA and elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) p256 and p384, Near Field Communication (NFC), and FIDO U2F.
