Viktor Afanasyev (cosmonaut)

Viktor Afanasyev was born on December 31, 1948, and is a former cosmonaut from the Soviet Union and Russia. His multiple occupations include being an aircraft pilot , astronaut , and military personnel. Afanasyev was educated at the Moscow Aviation Institute.

Throughout his career, Viktor Afanasyev has received several awards and distinctions. He was awarded the Order of Lenin , named a Hero of the Soviet Union , and received the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland", 2nd class . Additionally, he was honored with the Order "For Personal Courage" , the Medal "For Merit in Space Exploration" , and the title of Pilot-Cosmonaut of the USSR .
