Vance D. Brand

Vance D. Brand was born on May 9, 1931, in Longmont, Colorado. He held various occupations, including officer in the armed forces, astronaut, test pilot, and aircraft pilot. Brand is a citizen of the United States.

He was educated at several institutions, such as the University of California, Los Angeles, California Institute of Technology, United States Military Academy, U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School, Tucson High Magnet School, Harvard Business School, University of Colorado Boulder, United States Naval Test Pilot School, and Longmont High School.

Frank Frederick Borman II, born on March 14, 1928, in Gary, Indiana, is an astronaut who served as the CEO of Eastern Airlines. Borman is the author of "Countdown: An Autobiography of Frank Borman".

Throughout his career, Brand has received multiple awards, including the Congressional Space Medal of Honor, NASA Distinguished Service Medal, NASA Exceptional Service Medal, Air Force Distinguished Flying Cross, Gold Medal of the International Aviation Federation named after K. E. Tsiolkovsky (2005), the Gold Medal of the International Aviation Federation named after Yu. A. Gagarin (1976), and Honorary diploma named after V. M. Komarov (1983, 1991). In 1997, Brand's name was inducted into the American Astronaut Hall of Fame. Furthermore, he received an Honorary Doctor of Science from the University of Colorado in 2000 and became an Honorary Citizen of Kaliningrad.
