VRChat is a San Francisco-based technology company that specializes in community-oriented virtual reality. Users can bring their own 3D content onto the platform and it can be transformed into a social experience. As of 2018, more than four million people have used the platform.


The company's product can be used on Steam, Oculus, or in the VRChat mobile application and is free to use. It has a software development kit that users can utilize to run their own virtual reality spaces and activities on the platform. Users can pick their own avatars and interact with people from all over the world on VRChat. Communication with others can take form via audio, chat, hand gestures using the avatar, and through games. Games that are offered include Capture the Flag and bowling. There are also weekly events that users can remotely attend.

VRChat has a Quick Menu which is to be used to access almost all of the features on the platform. Options include direct interactions, microphones, worlds menu, avatar menu, social menu, and systems menu.
