As the Navy has made significant performance improvements to the Electronic Warfare systems, the operator workload has increased as more information has become available on the console. The need exists to consolidate the recording and displaying of relevant events stemming from an EW operator’s actions in a way that reduces the overall workload for the operators and improves their efficiency. SimVentions proposes the Digital EW Logging Engine (DEWLE) as a Computer Software Configuration Item (CSCI) to be integrated into the Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program (SEWIP) AN/SLQ-32(V)6 and (V)7 systems. The DEWLE will be an open architecture and extensible software application which will manage the automated collection, correlation, storage, and retrieval of EW event data that the operator needs to make informed decisions. The DEWLE will also collect and log actions taken by the EW operator. The stored data will be made available through an Open Application Programming Interface (API) to both the SEWIP system and to offline tools for detailed analysis and reporting. The intent is to collaborate with the Human Machine Interface (HMI) designers to develop integrated and extensible solutions which will allow the EW operators to efficiently handle the ever-increasing amount of data presented to them.
