JSC PO Sevmash is one of the largest shipbuilding complexes in Russia (part of JSC United Shipbuilding Corporation), a dynamically developing shipyard that successfully combines many years of shipbuilding experience and a modern approach to production.
The capacity of the enterprise and the experience of the workforce make it possible to implement high-tech and science-intensive projects: from the production of transport and packaging containers for spent nuclear fuel to the creation of modern nuclear submarines and offshore engineering structures. Fulfillment of the state defense order is the main activity of the Severodvinsk shipyard. A large-scale shipbuilding program has been implemented at the enterprise since 1939. During its history, Sevmash handed over 134 nuclear submarines, 40 diesel submarines and 45 surface ships to the country's Navy. The plant gave birth to ships that set records for underwater speed, diving depth, and underwater displacement. Nuclear-powered missile carriers, created by shipyard shipbuilders, became the basis of the naval component of Russia's nuclear forces. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, Sevmash actually remained the only enterprise in Russia and in the post-Soviet space that carries out the entire cycle of construction and testing of submarines with nuclear power plants. In 2012, the lead nuclear submarine cruiser Yuri Dolgoruky (Borey project) was handed over to the Navy. In 2013, the nuclear-powered ship "Alexander Nevsky" (pr. "Borey"). In December 2013, an acceptance act was signed on the acceptance by the Navy of the Severodvinsk nuclear submarine (Ave Yasen) for trial operation. On June 17, 2014, the Naval flag was hoisted on this modern nuclear-powered submarine. On December 19, 2014, a solemn ceremony of hoisting the Andreevsky flag was held on another nuclear submarine missile cruiser (APRK) of the new generation "Vladimir Monomakh" (pr. "Borey").
At present, according to the Borey-A project, the construction of the ships Prince Oleg, Generalissimo Suvorov, Emperor Alexander III, Prince Pozharsky is underway; according to the Yasen-M project - ships Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Arkhangelsk, Perm, Ulyanovsk, Vladivostok, Voronezh.
In addition to the construction of nuclear submarines, JSC "PO" Sevmash "repairs surface ships. So, the project 11442M ship is being repaired. Sevmash signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in 2013 to carry out these works.
Within the framework of military-technical cooperation, the Severodvinsk shipyard works with foreign customers. In 2003-2005 2 diesel-electric submarines of project 636 were built. Under an intergovernmental agreement between Russia and the Republic of India, the enterprise repaired and modernized the aircraft carrier Vikramaditya (project 11430). On November 16, 2013, the aircraft carrier was handed over to the Naval Forces of the Republic of India.
Sevmash has also mastered the production of high-tech civilian products and, above all, offshore platforms for the development of oil and gas fields in the Arctic. In May 2013, the Prirazlomnaya offshore ice-resistant fixed platform, unique in its class, was transferred to the management of the customer, Gazprom PJSC.
