SBIR/STTR Award attributes
This extension expands the success of the Joint Marksmanship Assessment Package (JMAP) system developed during the initial Phase I and Phase II (SBIR N193-A03-0519) projects to support USMC enterprise level marksmanship measurement and to also commercialize JMAP so that it can continue to support USMC and DoD marksmanship. The primary entry points for the expansion are: USMC Infantry Marine Training Support for at-scale use during training of Infantry Marine students for both Officer and Enlisted courses. Introduction of concurrent, non-acoustic timing for the Infantry Marksmanship Assessments (IMA), as well as analytics, data cleaning, and measurement quality support. Assessment dashboard/cards for the individual, instructor, Squad, Platoon, and Company. USMC Enterprise-Level Development of products that will scale to support USMC marksmanship testing programs (estimated > 66,000 per year) in the following specific areas: Tables 1,2,3,4,5,6 (T1-T6) – done at all recruit training and some non- Annual Rifle Qualification (ARQ) capable ranges. Annual Rifle Qualification – USMC-wide rifle qualification. Combat Pistol Program (CPP) – USMC-wide qualification for pistol using roles The primary areas of investment will be: Improve JMAP to be easily useable by Marines that run these qualifications. This includes both software changes and extensive training materials in written and video form. Establish technical features such as concurrent timing via non-acoustic means robust at scale to make those events run much more efficiently and accurately. Create individual and unit data-cards so that instructors and unit leaders have the information they need, readily accessible, and actionable to adjust training and know their unit and individual Marine performances. Add technical features to support concurrent timing while the shooter is moving to support qualifications and standards that incorporate “shooting while moving” (IMA, ARQ, Tables 5/6, and CPP). Ongoing support of Infantry Marine training pipeline events. Continue to support these events, both with technical assistance at the events, as well as software maintenance needed to fix any critical bugs or inefficiencies discovered through use. Commercialization of JMAP so that the technology can be sold as a commercial product to large scale armed professional organizations (primarily law enforcement/security). Commercialization spinoff of JMAP technology focusing on technologies using individual non-acoustic shot timing via smart watch and automatic bullet hole finding and scoring.
