The Schweizer Paraplekiger Stiftung is a paraplegic foundation that works through a holistic and global service network to support people with spinal cord injuries. This network is capable of starting at the scene of an accident or illness-related diagnosis to help those with spinal cord injury lead the best possible life. The Schweizer Paraplekiger Stiftung is part of an umbrella of service networks that work to help the rehabilitation of paraplegics, and includes support from institutions such as the Swiss Paraplegic Center, Swiss Paraplegic Research, the Institute for Rescue Medicine, Orthotec, and Parahelp.
The foundation works to help with the holistic rehabilitation of paraplegics and quadriplegics, taking and supporting all measures current science and technology can provide to help those rehabilitate and find a better quality of life. This includes helping paraplegics and quadriplegics with contributions towards the cost of auxiliary devices, equipment, and facilities, and caretakers to help the relatives of members of the foundation.
The foundation also provides information and support for new paraplegics and quadriplegics, to give them an idea of what to expect and help them learn how to manage. As well, the foundation offers information for visitors and family members to help them understand what to expect. And the foundation works to support research and technological developments into helping paraplegics and quadriplegics.
