SBIR/STTR Award attributes
In this STTR effort, SkyNano will collaborate with Prof. Hongyu Zhou's laboratory at the University of Tennessee Knoxville (UTK) to demonstrate the utilization of environmental carbon in composite applications specific to meeting the needs of the Department of the Navy. SkyNano will leverage our core technology which captures and converts environmental carbon dioxide into functional all-carbon based nano materials, including high performance carbon nanotubes, in a low-cost and rapidly scalable electrochemical reactor. To demonstrate the functionality of our environmental carbon-derived materials, we will collaborate with Prof. Zhou's laboratory at UTK to demonstrate the utilization of SkyNano's CO2-derived carbon nanotubes in concrete composites which can be 3-D printed for on-site rapidly-constructed functional structures for Naval operations. Furthermore, we will demonstrate the enhanced functionality of our environmental carbon-derived carbon nanotubes in concrete composites with in-situ defect monitoring in the option period of the scope of work.
