Pendulum is an open-source blockchain built on the proven Parity Substrate framework that aims to establish the missing link between fiat and the DeFi ecosystems through a smart contract network. Pendulum allows DeFi applications to connect to the foreign exchange market, build automated market makers, and create yield-earning opportunities. Pendulum's partners and collaborators include Stellar, eMoney, Polkadot, Web3 Foundation, Acala, SatoshiPay, Kusama, Parity, Bifrost, Blockchain Celerator, Interlay, Substrate, Axel Springer, ClickPesa, Tempo, and Von Der Heydt.
Pendulum is built to establish a link between fiat and DeFi with a smart contract network and aims to become a one-stop hub for the internet of fiat. Pendulum innovations include cross-chain trust-minimized bridges, a network optimized for a broad basket of fiat-pegged stable tokens, next-generation smart contract technology, an opt-in compliance layer with privacy features, and seamless on/off ramps standards for integrations into local banking networks.
One of the core pillars of Pendulum is the capacity to collect and connect fiat-pegged tokens into a single, optimized blockchain system. This gives project developers and token holders access to a broad basket of fiat tokens, unlocking an evolution in money markets and borderless financial transactions. These bridges connect different ecosystems and require different solutions, depending on the nature of the network.
Pendulum is developed to help DeFi and dApps develop fiat infrastructure and includes plans to provide a suite of core components that developers can use to build their applications.
Pendulum is developing the Playground UI, intended to make it easy for smart contract developers to upload and test their smart contracts and is based on a modified version of Parity's Contracts UI.
Pendulum offers ecosystem grants that include financial support for those interested in developing and building AMMs, lending protocols, stable fiat tokens, yield optimizers, on- and off-ramps, and forks. They also offer developers a chance to leverage the benefits of building on Amplitude's Kusama parachain and Pendulum when it becomes a Polkadot parachain while offering marketing and technology support to help developers grow their networks and ecosystems.
