PeerBerry is a resale marketplace lending platform. It collates pre-funded loans from partner organizations, then re-sells them to investors. The company is managed by PeerBerry d.o.o. and is headquartered in Croatia. It enables users to provide funding to individuals, real estate developers, and business owners by investing in short-term personal, real estate, and business loans.
The platform only serves lenders, and users cannot apply for loans directly. Users can invest in consumer loans that are originated by non-banking lenders across Europe.
The company launched on the 1st of November 2017, with loans originated majorly by Aventus Group and its subsidiaries. Aventus Group is a non-banking lending group operating in African, European, and Asian countries since 2009.
PeerBerry's mobile app allows users to filter loans they want to invest in. They can create an Auto Invest strategy, pick a predefined strategy, or invest manually. They can also receive notifications, monitor the status of loans, and track the details of their returns. They can see their portfolio distribution by loan type, lenders, and country.
Users can review and filter the list of available loans and choose loans they want to invest in based on their preferences. They can designate their investment criteria and automate the investment process when they enable the Auto Invest tool.
The tool can also be combined with manual investing. Users can review and track the performance of their investments. They can also access earned profits, check the status of their loans, and determine the diversification of their portfolio.
With the PeerBerry app, users can check their account summary, add funds, make withdrawals, and generate transaction reports and tax statements. Both individuals and companies are allowed to become investors at PeerBerry.
To join, users are required to complete a registration form, verify their identity, and activate their investor account by depositing initial funds. Users must be at least eighteen years old, and PeerBerry only accepts deposits from credit, payment, or electronic money institutions within the European Union or third countries considered to have AML/CFT systems that are equivalent to the EU.
The process is as follows:
- Users register to begin investing in the platform by filling in the registration form.
- They become active investors by adding funds to their investor account.
- They can view their profile daily to track their investments, portfolio, and returns.
- Users are required to verify their identity by passing the automated identification process.
- They can then choose and invest in loans, create their Auto Invest portfolio with their chosen parameters, or manually invest in available loans after filtering them.
- Users get invested principal and earned interest. The funds can be accessed in their investor account as soon as the loan repayment is finished.
The initial upgrade to a loyalty category happens one to two days following the ninety-day period. To become a loyal investor, users are required to be a PeerBerry customer for ninety days and have above 10,000 euros in their portfolios.
Calculations happen on the last days of each month, while the updates appear on the first days of each month. Users will be able to check their loyalty status change in their Personal settings’-> Other information -> Loyalty category.
The loyalty categories include the following:
- Silver: Active investment portfolio from 10,000 euros; gives users an interest bonus of +0.5% for their future investments
- Gold: Active investment portfolio from 25,000 euros; gives users an extra interest bonus of +0.75% for their future investments
- Platinum: An active investment portfolio from 40,000 Euros, gives users an interest bonus of +1% for their future investments.
PeerBerry's Auto Invest tool automatically invests available funds into loans, according to a user's Auto Invest strategy/strategies settings. The tool works based on a queuing system, and the logic works upon FIFO (first in first out) method.
The first strategies that are added into the queue (following creation or update) are the first to be taken out to be fulfilled. The strategy creation/update time is what determines the order in which the strategies are placed into the queue, and strategies are processed at different times daily. The effectiveness of the tool is dependent on the loan supply, as well as demand on the platform.
Auto Invest does not work instantly, as it is based on a queuing system. If the amount of active strategies on the platform is high, it can take more time until a user's funds are fully invested.
After creation or editing, strategies begin to work within one day, or within minutes or hours. How early the strategy starts depends on its settings and the number of active strategies in the queue.
It is also dependent on similar strategies, available loans and funds, and priority in the queue since loyal investors have a priority. Platinum goes first, followed by Gold, then Silver, and other criteria.
