As part of an ongoing series of related efforts Progeny Systems Corporation is working with innovative technology providers to develop SATCOM capabilities supporting Medium Altitude and High Altitude Long Endurance (MALE/HALE), unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), ground sensors and communications, and small size weight and power (SWaP) man-pack and dismounted technologies in an overall campaign to support the expeditionary warfighter. High performance, low profile, satellite antenna technology is a key enabler in many of these concepts – allowing access to the RF domain for communications and sensing while reducing the payload burden. For this effort, Progeny will investigate plasma Ku/Ka antennas that support warfighter requirements while reducing SWaP while improving RF performance in a low observable, lightweight form factor in multiple relevant Special Operations mission areas.Progeny will identify mission areas that can be substantially benefitted from this antenna technology, fabricate, test and evaluate a series of antennas and antenna arrays, and demonstrate the functionality of their use in a live demonstration.
