Oscar Niemeyer was born on December 15, 1907, in Rio de Janeiro. He was a Brazilian architect, designer, writer, politician, and urban planner. Niemeyer was educated at Escola Nacional de Belas Artes and held citizenship in Brazil.
He is known for his work on notable projects such as the Pampulha Modern Ensemble, Niterói Contemporary Art Museum, Palácio do Planalto, Palácio da Alvorada, Cathedral of Brasília, Ibirapuera Auditorium, and Brasilia Digital TV Tower.
In addition to his architectural work, Niemeyer was the founder of Cláudio Santoro National Theater and the creator of Museu Oscar Niemeyer, Niterói Contemporary Art Museum, and Auditório Ibirapuera - Oscar Niemeyer. He had one child, named Anna Maria Niemeyer. Oscar Niemeyer passed away on December 5, 2012, in Rio de Janeiro.
