Nikolay Yegorovich Zhukovsky (5 January 1847 – 17 March 1921) was a mathematician, physicist, and engineer from the Russian Empire and the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. He was born in Vladimir Oblast and died in Moscow. Zhukovsky is known for being the founder of aerodynamics.
Zhukovsky founded the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI). Among his notable works are the Joukowsky transform, Kutta condition, and Kutta–Joukowski theorem. He was the doctoral advisor to Sergey Chaplygin, Boris Stechkin, Vladimir Vetchinkin, and Mertsalov Nikolai Ivanovich and studied under August Davidov.
Throughout his career, Zhukovsky received multiple awards, including the Order of Saint Vladimir, Order of Saint Stanislaus, and Order of Saint Anna. His nationality was Russian.
