The National Security Technology Accelerator (NSTXL) is a technology acquisition support accelerator working to take commercial and non-defense technologies for the development of less expensive and faster defense capabilities. This includes developing prototypes that address a range of operational and installation needs, including warfighter technology and large-scale installation projects. NSTXL works to deliver program management, human design thinking, finance, and acquisition strategy services in order to deliver solutions for warfighters.
NSTXL membership and networks include business, universities, laboratories, incubators, investors and entrepreneurs with technologies spanning energy, cyber-security, biomedical, advanced materials, and nanotechnology.
NSTXL works to prospect, vet and fund commercial and university-based R&D that support specific Department of Defense and national security technical requirements; mentor members for more successful funding and development interactions with U.S. national security organizations and stakeholders; facilitate opportunities for interaction and deal-flow among universities, large and small companies, and the military; and, create workforce development and entrepreneurship opportunities for veterans.
NSTXL is an Other Transaction Authority (OTA) used by the Department of Defense in order to streamline acquisitions. NSTXL's OTA membership includes members in the Department of Defense's innovation ecosystem, including the Strategic & Spectrum Missions Advanced Resilient Trusted Systems, Training and Readiness Accelerator, and Defense Technological Information Center Energy OTA.
The United States Space Force's Space and Missile Systems Center awarded the Space Enterprise Consortium (SpEC) consortium manager agreement to NSTXL on January 15, 2021.
