Hashmasks are living, collectible digital art created by over 70 artists from around the world. This is a collection of 16,384 unique digital portraits.
By holding a work of art, you accumulate an NCT token daily, which allows you to choose a name for your portrait on the Ethereum blockchain. This is your opportunity to be one of the first to take part in one of NFT's largest collaborative art projects.

We would like to officially introduce you to Hashmasks, a collaborative art project created by over 70 artists from all over the world. The latest completion of this timeless art project is the naming of each of the 16,384 unique characters in the collection. And this is where you come into play. Inspired by the digital art movement, we have taken this innovation one step further to include the consumer of art within the art itself.
Each owner has the opportunity to contribute to the completion of a work of art by giving their preference to the hash masks they hold via a Name Change Token (NCT). As 10 years pass, the ability to rename individual works of art becomes more and more exclusive as new NCTs are discontinued until one day, name changes are no longer possible. This completes the art project.
Historically, our view of art has not changed much since ancient times, when emperors commissioned artists to create their pompous portraits. The artist creates art, and the consumer consumes it. Leonardo da Vinci created the Mona Lisa. Edvard Munch created The Scream. Andy Warhol created the Marilyn Diptych. The consumer can see the product at the exhibition or buy it. Roles are clearly defined and separated.
Hash masks remove this dividing line between artist and consumer and combine them into the work of art itself. Over 70 artists from around the world have collaborated to create this collection of 16,384 unique characters, but the art is not yet complete. Unlike traditional art, the baton of responsibility passes to you, and you get the right and privilege to add your own unique touch to this ever-changing canvas.
Several digital art projects already exist. First of all, Cryptopunks and CryptoKitties come to mind. Although all digital art projects differ in their implementation and aesthetics, they all have one common denominator: the creators add an element of rarity in the form of various traits, which gives the individual pieces of the collection their relative value. The value of zombie punk far exceeds that of floor punk.
This phenomenon is not inherent in the world of digital art. Any collectible in history has an internal, coherent hierarchy in which people are ranked by scarcity. Hashmasks have taken it to the next level by giving the consumer power over the rarest trait of all: the name. With virtually unlimited possibilities, the gap between artist and consumer narrows even further, allowing both sides to define the scarcity of each portrait within the entire art project.
We envision the formation of clusters and attributes among hash masks that bring a completely different dimension to the work, completely detached from the capabilities and intentions of the original artists. We imagine The Simpsons, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Alice in Wonderland, the Three Musketeers and many more collections that will be combined into a realm of 16,384 different unique items. The final result of a work of art - forever etched in the history of art on the Ethereum blockchain - in many decades will depend only on the creativity of the community that created it.
Truly a work of art for people, created by people. And we expect chaos.
There are other parts of the art industry that are in dire need of innovation. The entry barrier for artists is incredibly high. The exact mechanisms by which a work of art is judged by a decisive elite are opaque and clear. How can a blank white canvas like the one Robery Ryman bought sell for $15 million at Sotheby? Or a banana taped to the wall for $120,000. In particular, if the idea of the work of art itself is not original in itself.
Hashmasks not only unifies the creator and consumer of a work of art into one entity, but also involves the ownership and movement of 16,384 separate moving parts of this grandiose work of art. Transparent and immutable, the life cycle of the Hashmasks Art Project will evolve in Ethereum, bending and changing its forms until the last NCT is burned and the artwork is completed. NFT is a prime example of the real use of blockchain to solve real problems. By encoding the ownership of works of art on the blockchain, it solves some of the transparency issues mentioned above. Also, NCT is a textbook convenience case for a utility token. It has a well-defined, easy-to-understand purpose in the Hashmasks ecosystem, and without it, the whole mechanics would be broken.
Since the inception of Ethereum, we have witnessed the emergence of almost 10,000 different blockchain applications. Of these, it is rare to find one application with a useful token. While almost all blockchain applications have zero consistent token models, hash masks have two.
NFT to address issues of transparency in digital art ownership and transfer; and NCT, which derives value from enabling users to participate in digital art.
Hashmasks are a combination of digital art and collectibles, with a hierarchy of values defined by both the creator and the consumer of the artwork. Unlike other collectibles, where the rarity of all traits is determined by the creators, hash masks include two levels of rarity: they provide a set of traits that serve as a general guide to the consumer, but also create many hidden traits that are left out. . First of all, the consumer is given full control over the rarest of all traits - the name.
The naming is commodified with a Name Change Token (NCT), which can be exchanged with other members of the artwork. Each name is unique and can only belong to one NFT. Hash Masks is the first collectible where the value and rarity of each item in the collection is not predetermined, but will change and adapt over the years before taking on its final form when the last NCT burns down.
How does it work
There are 16,384 unique hash masks in total. Each one is created by a combination of several different artists. They have different masks, eye colors, items, and other attributes. This means: all hash masks are rare, but some are rarer than others.
To ensure a fair distribution, the user will not know which hash mask they are buying for the first 14 days of the sale. All NFTs have already been created but not yet indexed. There is a predetermined sequence of hash masks, but which one will be the first hash mask will only be determined at the end of the sale using a random mechanism on the chain. This method guarantees a fair distribution. Due to the expected high demand during the initial distribution period, we have decided to limit the maximum to 20 hash masks per transaction.
The mailing period starts at 16:00 January 28, 2021 (CEST). Hash masks are sold according to the schedule below (price reductions may apply as described in the FAQ). After 14 days or after all hash masks have been sold (whichever comes first), the deposit period ends and your hash masks will be unlocked. If they are not sold after the reveal phase, the sale will continue at the prevailing rate with two differences: (1) all portraits will be shown so you know which one you are buying, and (2) there will be no bonus NCTs for 14 days .

You are not just buying a rare piece of art. You are part of a work of art. Smart contracts allow you to name your hash mask, giving you the ability to add your own unique touch to the canvas. Thus, you become one of the founding creators who turned this raw canvas into a timeless work of art. Your NFT can serve as your digital identity as we transition to a fully digital economy.
The Name Change Token (NCT) is the native token for Hashmasks skins. The NCT serves only one purpose: it allows its owner to give its hash mask a unique name that is permanently stored and publicly displayed on the Ethereum blockchain. Thus turning the name itself into a commodity and making it the rarest of all attributes in the entire project. This opens up a whole new dimension to collectibles, where the value hierarchy of individual works of collective art is highly dependent on consumer preferences.
If you have Hashmask, you can claim NCTs that accumulate NFTs. Each NFT accumulates about 3660 NCT per year. If you participate in the down payment period, you will receive an additional 1830 NCT. In order to change the NFT name, you need to send 1830 NCT (about ½ years of NFT issuance) to the Hashmask contract and burn them.

-The name cannot be identical;
-The maximum number of characters is 25 (including spaces);
-Uniqueness is case insensitive (i.e. "John" and "john" are considered the same for the blockchain);
-There are no leading or trailing "gaps";
-Only alphanumeric characters are allowed;
-The names used become available immediately after the NFT name is changed.
Every year each hash mask will accumulate approximately 3660 NCT. You need 1830 NCT to change the name of your Hashmask. To give more decisive power to early entrants, each entrant in the first distribution period (14 days) will receive an additional 1830 NCT. After 10 years, the release of new NCT stops. From now on, NCTs can only be burned until one day there are no NCTs left and the hash mask names can no longer be changed. After that, the work is considered completed.
-Number of NCTs issued per year on NFTs: 3660;
-Number of NCTs required for one name change: 1830
-Bonus NCT for the initial sales phase: 1830.
The collection consists of 16,384 portraits. They are arranged in the order in which they are hashed. This is different from the randomized sequence that is created immediately after the sale. After the initial sale period has ended, separate sub-categories will be shown within each feature category.

To provide a general guide to the hierarchy of a digital collectible artwork, creators provide a set of explicit characteristics with varying degrees of rarity, such as humans being much more common than robots. Unlike other collectibles, there is a second level of scarcity imposed on overt traits through implicit traits and the name market.

However, hash masks are not just a collectible, they are art. And art is not systematic. It's mysterious. As an advanced blend of intelligently designed collectibles and artistic creation, many traits or attributes of the Hash Mask are clearly left out. This encourages the consumer, or rather the collective consumer, to project their interpretation of value onto the work of art. On top of that, NCT gives the consumer the power to decide on the rarest of all traits, the unique name, thereby eliminating the invisible line that separates the creator and consumer of the artwork.
At the highest level, there are 14 different types of masks. 12.5% of all characters wear animal masks and only 5.9% wear a pixel mask. At first glance, pixel masks may seem more exclusive, but upon further inspection, you realize that there are only 13 hash masks with a unicorn mask that is much more exclusive than the rarest of all pixel masks. Other examples of implicit traits with varying degrees of rarity are backgrounds, shirts, hairstyles and colors, and more.
