Matthew Lewis (writer)

Matthew Lewis (1775-1818) was a writer born in London and educated at Christ Church, Oxford and Westminster School. He was a citizen of the Kingdom of Great Britain. Lewis worked as a novelist, playwright, politician, poet, and writer. He is best known for his notable work, "The Monk", which is a part of the Gothic fiction genre. Lewis passed away on May 14, 1818, in the Atlantic Ocean.
