Calibration labs must handle high-precision gauge blocks in order to either measure the blocks or use them to calibrate other equipment. Due to the high level of precision offered by these blocks, they are impacted by temperature changes from contact with human operators. An assistive robot system is proposed that can remove the impacts from heat transfer, while being designed for optimal performance in a calibration lab through intuitive user interfaces and workspace indication, consideration of the full cycle of object manipulation during a calibration cycle, and machine-vision based enhancements for accurate performance.
