L. Frank Baum (born as Lyman Frank Baum on May 15, 1856) was an American writer, journalist, novelist, film producer, actor, screenwriter, playwright, poet, and suffragette. He is best known for his notable work, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Born in Chittenango, New York, he later became a citizen of the United States. Throughout his career, Baum was involved in various occupations, including journalism, film production, writing, novel writing, acting, screenwriting, poetry, and activism in the women's suffrage movement.
In addition to his career accomplishments, Baum was the father of two children, Frank Joslyn Baum and Harry Neal Baum. He passed away on May 6, 1919, in Hollywood.
Baum was also the founder of The Oz Film Manufacturing Company, which was established to create films based on his popular Oz series.
