Khabri

Khabri is an Android app designed to allow users to listen to content in the language of their choice. Individuals and organizations can create their own channel and reach their audience. The company has partnerships with Amazon Alexa, Ola Play, Samsung and Indus OS.

Kabri's app allows users to download and listen to short news clips recorded by a professional voiceover artiste. The idea came from a situation where India law prohibits news broadcasts on private radio channels. The All India Radio only broadcasts news at fixed times with a set bulletin. To allow people to have more choice about what news they listen to and when Khabri’s editors curate important news reports through the day and summarise it. The voice over artiste records the bulletin, which is then compressed before ‘airing’. News clips are each 200-300kb.

Khabri are won a prize in the AntaPrerena Competition in 2017. Khabri was one of four startups chosen in 2018 by India’s leading accelerator with investment of $1 million in seed funding in the four tech companies.
