Kenji Mizoguchi

Kenji Mizoguchi was a Japanese film director and screenwriter born on May 16, 1898, in Hongō, Tokyo . He held Japanese nationality and was a filmmaker . Mizoguchi directed numerous films throughout his career, such as Osaka Elegy , The Life of Oharu , Ugetsu , The Crucified Lovers , Street of Shame , and Sisters of the Gion .

Besides his work as a director, Mizoguchi was also a screenwriter and editor of the film The Machine Girl. He went by the aliases みぞぐち けんじ and Goteken . Some of his other notable works include Tojin Okichi and Orizuru Osen .

Kenji Mizoguchi passed away in Kyoto on August 24, 1956 , leaving behind a rich legacy as a renowned Japanese film director and screenwriter.
