Karagozian & Case Inc. and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of Civil Engineering are proposing a Phase I STTR to develop a non-invasive and non-destructive methodology capable of measuring concrete material properties, including relevant spatial and statistical information associated with them, for input to hydrocode models. The solution will be both laboratory and field deployable, will automatically compute material properties and parameters for complex material constitutive models like the Holmquist-Johnson-Cook model, and will quantify uncertainties inherent to both the material properties and uncertainties in the measurements. The solution will be designed to interrogate and assess complex geometrical structures, including slabs, columns/cylinders, cubes, concrete cores, and other bulk geometries to include full-scale structures, and provide the results in less than 30 minutes.
