SBIR/STTR Award attributes
PMS404 is executing a rapid prototype development initiative, sponsored by the Strategic Capabilities Office (SCO), with demonstration objectives in 2021. The project aims to maintain current MK 48 Heavyweight Torpedo capabilities while substantially increasing range and lethality capabilities. The program currently makes use of a University Affiliated Research Center (UARC), with Pennsylvania State University Applied Research Laboratory (PSU-ARL) as the design and integration agent. This Submarine Adaptive Weapons System (SAWS) proposal provides technical and programmatic scope to augment and mature several SBIR innovative technologies for this program purpose.SAWS leverages adaptive control algorithms and the Cyber System Infrastructure (CSI) developed under SBIR N131-078 Phase I and Phase II contracts with the Office of Naval Research (for Phase I) and Naval Sea Systems Command (for Phase II). It also provides for commercialization of innovative technologies developed by In-Depth Engineering in our execution of the Torpedo Warning System (TWS) SBIR effort. In-Depth herein proposes to continue the development and commercialization of said technologies within this SBIR Phase II CRP – for the benefit of the PMS404 project.
