Hypercomp, Inc. SBIR Phase II Award, July 2020

The thrust of this SBIR effort (N92-059) for NAVAIR is to build on the strengths of HyPerComp’s expertise in modeling sea state with maritime targets and develop the necessary technologies to support the periscope detection and discrimination surveillance operations from high altitude platforms.  There are three aspects to the problem: 1) understanding the physics of electromagnetic (EM) interactions between the sea surface and the maritime target, either single or multiple periscopes; 2) computational modeling complexities that account for the various EM physics of the problem; and 3) understanding and providing the accurate information to the signal processing algorithms that perform the detection and discrimination operations.
