The firm was founded in 1999 by Mr. Li Ka-shing, Debbie Chang, and Solina Chau, and is headquartered in Hong Kong, Hong Kong. Horizons ventures invests primarily in technology, media, and telecommunication companies. Notable companies invested in by Horizon Ventures include: DeepMind, Dollar Shave Club, Siri, Facebook, Slack, Impossible Foods, Perfect Day Foods, Skype, and Spotify.
In February 2012 an investor syndicate purchased the interest of the Small Business Administration in Horizon Ventures Fund II resulting in Horizon Ventures no longer being subject to SBA regulations and changing the focus of the firm into liquidating their investments portfolio. Horizon Ventures is no longer making new investments.
As of September 2019, Horizon Ventures has made 192 investments, lead 86 investments, and have made 26 exits. Notable exits made by Horizon Ventures include: Facebook, Spotify, Scotty Labs, Slack, Waze, Razer, and Magisto.
