Henry Highland Garnet

Henry Highland Garnet was born on December 23, 1815, in New Market, Maryland. He held citizenship in the United States and was educated at the African Free School. Garnet worked as a diplomat during his lifetime.

He was a founding member of both the American and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society and the African Civilization Society, organizations aimed at combating slavery and promoting the development of African societies. Garnet passed away on February 13, 1882, in Monrovia.
