H. P. Lovecraft, also known as Howard Phillips Lovecraft, was an American writer born on August 20, 1890, in Providence, Rhode Island. He was educated at Hope High School in Rhode Island and held the citizenship of the United States. Lovecraft was a novelist, poet, journalist, writer, and essayist, known for using pseudonyms such as Lewis Theobald, Jr..
H. P. Lovecraft's work spanned various genres, including science fiction, mystery fiction, Lovecraftian horror, cosmicism, and fantasy. Some of his notable works were The Call of Cthulhu, The Cats of Ulthar, At the Mountains of Madness, The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath, The Shadow over Innsmouth, The Shadow Out of Time, and Beyond the Wall of Sleep (short story).
In addition to his notable works, Lovecraft authored other stories such as The Street (short story), The Shadow over Innsmouth, At the Mountains of Madness, The Whisperer in Darkness, Dagon (short story), and The Call of Cthulhu. H. P. Lovecraft, who was the son of fashion designer Sarah Phillips, passed away on March 15, 1937, in Providence, Rhode Island.
