Grefusa was founded in 1929 by José Gregori Furió. Its original activity was the storage of agricultural products, specializing later in peanuts from 1950. The growth of the company required the registration of a trademark. Thus the Grefusa brand name was created in 1952, which abbreviated the surnames of the founder (Gregori Furio, Sociedad Anónima). In 1962, the founder's sons joined the business, expanding the activity to nut roasting. In 1988 the company oriented its activity to snacks and aperitifs, undertaking a risky investment in state-of-the-art machinery. From that moment on, the company experienced great growth in sales and turnover, creating subsidiaries and exponentially increasing its workforce. In 1996 the company made the leap to international markets, opening factories initially in Portugal and Turkey, introducing its brands in Europe, Asia, Latin America and the United States. In 2000 the company opened a new factory in Medina del Campo, in the province of Valladolid. Parallel to its growth in the food sector, the group diversified its activities by entering other sectors, such as real estate, vending machines and, mainly, civil aviation.
