Ford was mainly known for his acting career, with his most notable occupation being a character actor. However, he also served as an officer in the armed forces. He was best known for his roles in the Western genre of films.
He attended Santa Monica High School for his education. Ford had a child named Peter Ford, who went on to become a diplomat.
