Ecovative was founded in 2007 and is located in Green Island, New York. The company was founded by Eben Bayer and Gavin McIntyre when they were students at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York. Ecovative grows materials from mycelium for use in structures including packaging, fireproofing, soundproofing, and furniture; and supplies a mycelium leather product sold under the Mylo brand to Bolt Threads. By growing materials using biofabrication, the company can deliver products to customers that are sustainable without sacrificing on performance, cost, or function.
