Australian philosopher and cognitive scientist
David Chalmers (born April 20, 1966) is an Australian philosopher whose work focuses on the philosophy of mind, philosophy of language, and philosophy. He is best known for his research on the hard problem of consciousness. Chalmers was born in Sydney and holds Australian citizenship.
He received his education at several institutions, including Lincoln College, Oxford, University of Adelaide, Indiana University, and Indiana University Bloomington. Douglas Hofstadter served as his doctoral advisor.
In addition to his academic work, Chalmers co-founded PhilPapers, an online research hub for philosophers. He is currently based in New York City.
