Charles V, born on February 24, 1500, in Ghent, was the Holy Roman Emperor and Archduke of Austria from 1519 to 1556. Holding the title of King of Spain (Castile and Aragon) from 1516 to 1556, he also ruled the Netherlands as the titular Duke of Burgundy from 1506 to 1555.
Charles V was a citizen of the Holy Roman Empire and came from an influential family. His parents were Philip I of Castile and Joanna of Castile, and he was the father of several notable figures, including Philip II of Spain, Margaret of Parma, John of Austria, Joanna of Austria, Princess of Portugal, and Maria of Austria, Holy Roman Empress.
His occupations included being a Monarch and an Emperor. Charles V was the founder of the University of Granada. He passed away on September 21, 1558, at the Monastery of Yuste.
