LAUNCH is a startup accelerator and competition designed to help develop early-stage startups from the University of California into fundable companies. The program selects twenty-five to thirty startups in the University of California system, which are paired with serial-entrepreneur mentors and led through a rigorous curriculum by the University of California, Berkeley faculty. The program is a three-month-long accelerator, which works to help the participants build out teams, protect any intellectual property, network with industry experts, get minimum viable products, prove a business model, pitch to investors, and become fundable.
Participants in the LAUNCH program can win up to $50,000 in price money, with the program claiming to have companies that have gone through the program raising around $128 million, over the more than 120 companies that have gone through the program. As part of the program, the LAUNCH accelerator does not take equity or charge for pairing teams with mentors or putting them through the program. LAUNCH is industry and technology agnostic, so long as the program's judges feel the startup is capable of developing a business.
