Gerasim Ivanovich Avdeev was born on November 16, 1925 in the village of Pirozhki, Kolmogorov village council, Kargapol district, Shadrinsk district, Ural region. By the decision of the Kurgan Regional Executive Committee No. 525 of December 30, 1987, the village of Pirozhki was excluded as settled. Now the territory of the village is included in the Osinovsky village council of the Kargapol district of the Kurgan region.
On February 15, 1943, he was drafted by the Kargapol RVC into the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Participated in the Great Patriotic War from August 20, 1943, was the commander of the submachine gun company of the 706th rifle regiment of the 204th rifle division of the 39th army. On October 4, 1943, he was slightly wounded in the left arm, and on December 22, 1943, near Vitebsk, he was seriously wounded in the face with damage to the lower jaw and in the right shoulder. Participated in the capture of Koenigsberg. After the end of the war, Senior Sergeant G. I. Avdeev continued to serve in the Northern Group of Forces, and from June 25, 1945, in the Group of Soviet Occupation Forces in Germany.
In 1947 he was demobilized and entered the Shadrinsky Automotive College. After graduating in 1950, he worked as a design engineer in the department of the chief designer of the Shadrinsk auto-aggregate plant named after. I. V. Stalin, then an instructor of the Shadrinsk city committee of the CPSU (b).
In 1952-1953 he served in the Soviet Navy.
From 1953 to 1957 he worked at the Shadrinsk auto-aggregate plant as the head of the KETs, lead designer, head of the SKB, deputy head of the plant.
Since 1957 - at the Kurgan Machine-Building Plant: head of the bureau, leading engineer.
In 1964 he graduated from the Kurgan Machine-Building Institute with a degree in mechanical engineering.
Under his leadership, in the early 1970s, experimental design work was carried out to create a combat compartment of an infantry fighting vehicle (BMP-2) with a two-man turret. In 1981, at the Kurgan Machine-Building Plant named after V.I. Lenin mastered its mass production.
He was elected secretary and member of the party bureau, was a member of the quality commission at the party committee of the plant, a member of the NTO and VOIR.
