
Alexandra Zakharova was born on June 17, 1962, in Moscow.
In 1983 she graduated from the acting department of the Higher Theatre School named after B.V. Shchukin (Artistic Director of the course - Yuri Vasilievich Katin-Yartsev), immediately after that she was accepted to the troupe of the Moscow State Lenin Komsomol Theatre (nowadays - the Moscow State Lenkom Theatre of Mark Zakharov). In 1986 she got the role of Ophelia in Gleb Panfilov's play Hamlet. Since then she has played at the theater many roles of the classical repertoire and acutely characteristic roles including the leading ones. She was the leading actress of Lenkom Mark Zakharov Theater.
Among her roles: Countess Almaviva ("Crazy Day or The Marriage of Figaro"), Yulia Pavlovna Tugina ("Va Bank"), Agafia Tikhonovna Kuperdyagina ("Marriage"), Lyubov Andreyevna Ranevskaya ("Cherry Orchard"), Kunitsina ("The Oprichnik Day"), Lady Percy ("Falstaff and the Prince of Wales"), Victoria ("Trap").
In 2019, after Mark Zakharov's passing, she completed her father's production, The Trap (a free-form stage fantasy based on the works of Vladimir Sorokin, screenplays by Mark Zakharov and documentary sources; the play premiered on December 2, 2019) as a director. In the summer of 2021 she was dismissed from the artistic council of the Lenkom Theater.
Since 1982 she has starred in films: "To Kill a Dragon" (1988), "The Hostage" (1990), "Grey Wolves" (1993), "The Downfall" (1993), "Felix Investigation Bureau" (1993), "The Master and Margarita" (1994) and others.
Gained All-Union popularity thanks to the roles of the courtyard girl Fimki in the comedy television feature film "Formula of Love" (1984) and swindler Alexandra Rukoyatkina in the detective directed by Sergei Ashkenazy "Criminal Talent" (1988).

- Was married to Vladimir Steklov. The marriage lasted from 1991 to 2000.
