Alexander Vertinsky (born March 9, 1889 in Kyiv, and died May 21, 1957 in Saint Petersburg) was a composer, poet, singer-songwriter, actor, and singer. He held citizenship in both the Russian Empire and Soviet Union. Vertinsky was the father of Anastasiya Vertinskaya, an actress.
Vertinsky contributed to the genre of Russian chanson. Throughout his career, he received recognition, earning the prestigious Stalin Prize. Alexander Vertinsky is remembered as an influential composer, singer, and poet of his time.
