A major private investor in the real sector of the Russian economy. Sistema's investment portfolio consists mainly of Russian companies in various sectors of the economy (telecommunications, retail, high technology, logging and timber processing, pharmaceuticals, medical services, agriculture, energy, finance, hotel business, etc.).
In 2005, Sistema held an IPO on the London Stock Exchange and raised $1.3 billion during it. Sistema's shares are in circulation on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) in the form of global depositary receipts. The receipts are included in the LSE quotation list under the SSA ticker. The company's shares are also admitted to trading on the Moscow Stock Exchange under the ticker AFKS. Free float in the form of GDR on the London Stock Exchange is about 17.6% of shares, on the Moscow Stock Exchange - 15.3%.
About 150 thousand people work at the enterprises of AFK Sistema Group[4], in 2013-2016 the companies of AFK Sistema Group transferred about 290 billion rubles to budgets and extra-budgetary funds of various levels and regions of Russia, which makes the group one of the largest taxpayers of the Russian Federation.
