The company was cofounded in 2017 by CEO Moti Rafalin, CTO Amir Rapson, and Systems Architect Ori Saporta. vFunction is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, and also has offices in Israel.

vFunction's platform utilizes artificial intelligence to help software architects update their legacy application portfolios and make them cloud compatible and scalable. The platform offers two main services through its assessment hub and modernization hub. The assessment hub uses AI to analyze the technical debt of a company's monolithic applications. The platform then identifies the source of the debt and illustrates its negative impacts. The assessment hub works hand-in-hand with vFunction's modernization hub, which makes for easier refactoring, re-architecting, and rewriting of applications. The platform is designed to accelerate and reduce the cost of JAVA modernization while also minimizing the risk of transforming apps onto the cloud.

vFunction has raised over $38 million in funding over four rounds since 2017. The company most recently closed a Series A funding round on February 22, 2022, for an undisclosed amount. Wipro Ventures was the lead participant in the round.
