Oliver Rolf Kahn (German: Oliver Rolf Kahn; German pronunciation: [llɪvɐ ˈkaːn]; genus. June 15, 1969, Karlsruhe) is a German football player who played as a goalkeeper. Since July 2021 - Chairman of the Board of the FC Bayern.
In 1975, Kahn joined the youth team of Karlsruhe, twelve years later he made his debut in the first team of this club. In 1994, he moved to Bayern Munich, where he was able to become the permanent goalkeeper of the starting lineup until the end of his playing career in 2008. His aggressive manner of communication earned him such nicknames as "Titan" (German. Der Titan) and "Volcano" (English Vol-kahn-o) from the press and fans [3][5]. From 1994 to 2006, he also played as a member of the German national team. In 1996, at the victorious European Championship for the Germans, he never entered the field. However, after retiring from football, the main goalkeeper of the national team, Andreas Koepke, became a player in the starting lineup of the national team. At the 2002 World Cup, Kahn's game in goal allowed the German national team to reach the final, in which the Germans lost to the Brazilians with a score of 0:2, and Oliver himself made a mistake, allowing Ronaldo to score the ball almost without resistance. Kang was recognized as the best player of that tournament[6].
Having won eight Bundesliga titles, six German Cups, the UEFA Cup, the Champions League and the Intercontinental Cup during his career, he is one of the most successful German players in recent history. He is considered one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time[7]. Kahn's individual contribution to his team's victories earned him three awards in the categories "The Best goalkeeper in Europe according to UEFA" and "The Best goalkeeper in the world according to the IFFIIS", as well as two awards "Footballer of the Year in Germany".
