Zeno Power Systems is a developer of radioisotope power systems intended to convert the heat from recycled nuclear waste into electricity. The company's systems are designed to be lightweight and to provide power for years at a time. Part of their design is fuel and shielding for radioisotopes.
They market the solution towards applications where long-endurance and reliable power for critical infrastructure is necessary but where fuel supply chains are complex or non-existent. This includes use for undersea applications and space applications. Speaking on the technology they are developing, co-founder and CEO Tyler Bernstein said:
We're using radioisotopes - a resilient, clean energy source - in a device no larger than a tabletop that potentially could power even small villages that currently rely on diesel or coal. Our device could fuel critical infrastructure for months or years with no maintenance.
Co-founders Tyler Bernstein, Jonathan Segal, and Jake Matthews met while studying at Vanderbilt University where Zeno Power Systems began as an effort to rethink the aviation industry and alternatives to jet fuel.
