The car was equipped with a 7-liter engine with a capacity of 300 horsepower. The ZIL-114 engine has an aluminum cylinder block, a four-chamber carburetor, a transistor ignition system and hydraulic valve lifters. This device, first used on the ZIS-110 in 1946, makes it unnecessary to adjust the clearance in the valve mechanism during the entire life of the engine and dramatically reduces timing noise.
