By profession, my father was an agronomist, my mother was a teacher. There were two more children in the family. The father was engaged in the upbringing of his sons and it was quite tough. From early childhood, they were instilled with a love of peasant labor, for disobedience, the father could also hit his boys with a firm paternal hand. When Yuri was already an adult, he said that it was such a strict upbringing that made him a purposeful p
erson who was used to solving all problems on his own.
STUDYING AT SCHOOL WAS NOT VERY EASY FOR YURI, THE ONLY THING HE LOVED WAS READING.
The boy also had another hobby - boxing. The coach recruited a section of village boys and taught them not only to box. In addition to power techniques, he went hiking with them, taught them to fish and hunt.
Then Yuri became interested in the theater and began to disappear constantly in the theater circle. He participated in almost all productions and often performed. The teachers noted that the guy definitely has talent, and it became clear to him who he wants to become in life.
The father did not share his son's passion and waited for him to play enough and do a real man's business. He predicted Yuri's future as a hunter and insisted on entering an agricultural university. But for the first time the son did not listen to his father and after graduation left for Irkutsk to become a student at a local theater school there. And his dream begins to come true – he did it on the first try.
He graduated from the school with excellent marks, and even managed to please the selection committee from Moscow, who visited their educational institution shortly before graduation. They recommended the young talent not to stop there, but to go to the capital if he really wants to achieve something in life. Stepanov did not object, packed up and rushed to Moscow to become a student of the famous GITIS. He got on a course with Pyotr Fomenko, who successfully graduated in 1993.
