The proposed Wireless Sensor Network utilizes advanced and first of a kind RFID tags that integrate several sub-systems to perform a diverse number of functions or services, including localization and sensing. Our technology improves upon existing power consumption and range of current RFID Tag technology to ensure elimination of batteries and precise localization of assets. We subdivide the new tag hardware into three sub-systems 1) the RF Front-end for communications, 2) the multi-harvesting power management sub-system, and 3) the ultra low power logic and sensing sub-system. Slide 10 in the Pitch Slide Deck submitted shows the logical interconnection of these sub-systems. We now describe in more detail each of these sub-systems and highlight their advantages over existing state-of-the-art. Note that the proposed Low Power Multi-Harvesting Wireless Sensor Network is fundamentally different because of its new kind of RFID tags; also note that we plan to use standard readers for the proposed network. Towards the end of this technical white paper we will also describe our approach to localization.
