The central thesis of the book proposes that technological progress has shifted scarcity for humanity: that when humans were foragers; food was scarce, during the agrarian age; land was scarce, following the industrial revolution; capital became scarce. With digital technologies scarcity is shifting once more to attention being the scarce resource. The book also discussed proposed solutions for how to live in its thesis of an attention scarce economy.
