Werner Heisenberg was a German mathematician and physicist born on December 5, 1901, in Würzburg, Germany . Over his lifetime, he held citizenship of the German Empire, Weimar Republic, Nazi Germany, and West Germany . Heisenberg was educated at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and later died in Munich on February 1, 1976 .
Heisenberg is best known for his creation of quantum mechanics and the Uncertainty principle . He contributed significantly to the fields of physics and chemistry with achievements such as the development of the Heisenberg group, isospin, and the Kramers–Heisenberg formula . In 1932, Heisenberg received the Nobel Prize in Physics for his work .
Throughout his career, Heisenberg mentored many doctoral students, including Felix Bloch, Edward Teller, Rudolf Peierls, Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker, and Friedwardt Winterberg, among others . His doctoral advisor was Arnold Sommerfeld .
Werner Heisenberg had two children, Martin and Jochen Heisenberg , and was the son of August and Annie Heisenberg . He authored the book "Physics and Beyond" .
