Manually audits for requirement conformance after software is developed is tedious and costly since the later in the development process that defects are found, the more costly they are to correct. The tool developed in this project provides automatic digital model generation from software artifacts that are then used in conformance assessment of requirements. Methods for extracting the relevant properties from the code and documentation are used in the model generation process. This phase of the project will focus on demonstrating conformance assessment to the FACE technical standard. Other requirements can be considered as the approach is extensible. The tool can be integrated into a software factory, provide status throughout development and produce a required quality record for auditors. WW Technology Group’s (WWTG’s) approach combines its automatic architecture generation and data mining in its extensible modeling and analysis tool, the EDICT Tool Suite. EDICT ties the technologies together through a unified data model, user interfaces, and synchronize compliance assessments with development updates. Running in parallel to the development environment, the tool presents results to developers throughout the development process. A dashboard provides insight into the compliance status and code structure and indicates where to find any conformance issues.
