Viktor Vasilyevich Postol (Ukrainian Viktor Vasilyovich Postol; born January 16, 1984, Velyka Dymerka, Brovarsky district, Kiev region, Ukrainian SSR, USSR) is a Ukrainian professional boxer performing in the first welterweight category (up to 63.5 kg ). Among professionals, the former WBC world champion (2015-2016) in the 1st welterweight.

Professional career

n 2007, Viktor Postol decided to turn professional and sign a contract with Stepan Chernovetsky 's Elite Boxing Promotion. The company has existed since 2005. The company held 217 fights, 21 of which were title fights. For "Elite Boxing Promotion" such titled fighters as the former WBA world champion in the bantamweight division Vladimir Sidorenko, the contender for the WBA world middleweight title Avtandil Khurtsidze, the top heavyweight Dmitry Kucher and the EBA European champion in the lightweight category Valentin Kuts boxed for "Elite Boxing Promotion", as well as a number of promising prospects, including Oleg Malinovsky, Marat Kulumbegov, Ilya Primak, Daniyar Ganyk, Timur Akhundov and others.

In 2012, Postol defeated an American, DeMarcus Corley , on points . On May 17, 2014, Postol won the status of a mandatory contender for the championship title by knocking out the Turk, Selçuk Aydin. On December 18, 2011 in Zaporozhye at the Sports Palace a fight for the vacant WBC International Silver title took place between the promising boxer "Elite Boxing Promotion" Viktor Postol (16-0, 8 KOs) and the Russian boxer Karen Tevosyan (19-4-3, 10 KOs) . The result of this fight is the victory of Postol by unanimous decision with a crushing score: 120-107 (twice) and 119-108. Thus, Victor won his first title, the first belt. Later, Viktor admitted in an interview more than once that it was then that he realized that he could and should become a world champion. On June 27, 2012 in Kiev, the champion defended his title for the first time, having won by unanimous decision over Ivan Mendy (25-3-1, 13 KOs) from France. According to the results of twelve rounds, all the judges scored the meeting 117-111 in favor of the Ukrainian.

On October 27, 2012, in the main event of the boxing evening at the Kiev sports complex "SportLife", in a very stubborn fight, Viktor Postol (20-0, 9 KOs) won his main victory at that time in his career over former world champion American DeMarcus Corley (39-20 -1, 23 KOs). Postol was cautious in the first third of the fight, and in the early rounds Corley had the upper hand. But during the meeting, the Ukrainian began to act more actively, and the cautious Chop-Chop did not escalate. Postol was most successful with the jab, while Corley was best at hitting forwards after slips. The opponents played the final two rounds in a more open manner, and in the exchanges, the advantage was on the side of Postol.

The fight lasted all the allotted twelve rounds, as a result of which the judges counted twice 118-110 and 117-112 in favor of Postol. Thus, Postol defended his WBC International Silver super lightweight title. March 21, 2013 Viktor Postol (22-0, 10 KOs) defeated Henry Lundy (22-3-1, 11 KOs) by unanimous decision and became the WBC International Championin super lightweight. Postol was more accurate in his attacks, actively using the jab. Lundy tried to catch the enemy on counterattacks and did not dare to escalate until the end of the battle. Only in the final rounds did the American go ahead and look better at the end of the meeting. This, however, was not enough to win. The score of judges' notes following the results of twelve rounds: 116-113, 116-112 and 117-112 in favor of Postol.

On October 3, 2013, WBC international super lightweight champion Viktor Postol (23-0, 10 KOs) defeated Ignacio Mendoza (38-7-2, 23 KOs) by unanimous decision, thus defending his title. Score of judges' notes: twice 119-108 and 118-109. In the course of the fight, Mendoza was deducted one point for dangerous head actions.

Championship fight with Lucas Matisse

On October 3, 2015, a fight took place for the vacant WBC championship belt between Ukrainian Viktor Postol and Argentinean puncher Lucas Matisse . Victor skillfully used the straightforwardness of the opponent's actions and worked ahead of the curve, regularly putting the favorite of the fight to a standstill. The superiority of Postol began to grow significantly after the 7th round. In the 10th three-minute period, Victor's aimed blow from the right seated the Argentinean on the floor of the ring, and Matthysse, holding his eye, did not get up until the end of the referee's count.

Fight with Mohamed Mimoun

On April 27, 2019, a fight with French boxer Mohamed Mimoun took place in Las Vegas. In the fourth round, the ropes saved the French boxer from a knockdown. As a result, the Ukrainian won by unanimous decision of the judges: 98-92, 97-93, 99-91. After the fight, Postol became the official contender for the WBC welterweight title.
